10:00 am Sundays at the McMinnville Grange
What to expect at our services
UUFM holds what we call traditional services on the first and third Sunday of every month. Simplified services are held on the second, fourth and the occasional fifth Sunday.
Traditional Services
Elements of typical traditional services (first and third Sundays) include:
Lighting our chalice, the symbol of our faith
Singing hymns
Story for All Ages (children gather at the front of the room to listen to a story)
Music, instrumental and vocal in a variety of styles
Time for lifting up the personal joys and concerns
Sermon by a UUFM minister, guest speaker, or member of the congregation
A 3-minute meditation
Dialogue between participants and the speaker following the sermon
An offering, collecting financial donations for the congregation and for a local non-profit organization
From time to time, worship services incorporate holiday celebrations, child dedications, and coming-of-age ceremonies.
We offer religious exploration classes for children and youth during the traditional services. The children join the adults for the start of the service then go to their classes after the Story for All Ages.
Simplified Services
Simplified services omit a number of the trimmings that characterize a traditional service. In a typical service, a speaker will present a topic and speak on it for about 10 minutes with the remainder time usually being spent in participatory, roundtable style discussions. The speaker is typically a member of the congregation but non-UUFM service organizations are periodically invited to present.
Child care is available during simplified services.
